This is...The Way!

Our Story

"The Way" is a band born from the heart of the pandemic, as a creative escape from the realities of COVID, the constant threat of boredom, and the looming professional burnout that was slowly creeping into the lives of its members. What started as a few friends jamming in a living room quickly transformed into a passionate pursuit that would change their lives.

Through countless hours of practice, and jam sessions, they refined their sound, building their unique spin of all the music they forgot they loved from the 80’s and 90’s alternative rock genre.

When the gloom of lockdown began to lift, they performed at local farmer’s markets and small backyard gatherings. The music began to reach a wider audience organically, and soon they found themselves booking gigs in LA and Ventura counties.
What began as a means to escape the pandemic's harsh realities became the silver lining that reignited a love of 80s and 90s music to all that heard them play. At each gig, what starts out as a few foot taps explodes into widespread dancing and singing.

"The Way" is not just a band; it's proof that it’s never too late to pick up the guitar, the drums, the mic, or the bass…and live the dream.

Erik "E Money"
Guitar
Erik brings a deep professional music background to The Way, with early experience as a music engineer, mixer, and producer. His work placed him alongside a wide range of established artists, including Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Dionne Warwick and Rod Stewart.
As a guitarist, Erik is especially drawn to the texture, tone, and atmosphere of 80’s alternative music. From shimmering clean parts and driving rhythm lines to layered effects and melodic hooks, that era continues to shape his approach to playing. His ear for arrangement and production helps him capture the spirit of the original songs while bringing them to life in a polished, high-energy live show.

Mike "Coop"
Vocals
Mike “Coop” brings the voice, energy, and audience connection that help define The Way’s live show. As the band’s lead vocalist, he does more than deliver the songs. He creates the kind of atmosphere where people feel invited into the performance.
As a vocalist, Mike is inspired by the unmistakable frontmen and voices of the 80’s and 90’s alternative era. From the emotional pull of new wave and post-punk to the raw energy of 90’s alt-rock, his approach is built around capturing the feeling of the songs, not just singing the notes. He brings personality, humor, and presence to the stage while staying focused on honoring the music audiences came to hear.

Sean "the Fuzz"
Drums
Sean “The Fuzz” brings drive, precision, and steady energy to The Way from behind the drums. As a drummer, he is inspired by the punch, groove, and dynamics of 80’s and 90’s alternative rock, where the rhythm section often does more than keep time. It shapes the attitude of the song.
In addition to his drumming, Sean adds a key vocal layer to the band’s sound through his strong backing harmonies. His harmonies help fill out the choruses, lift the hooks, and bring more depth to the songs audiences know and love. Whether driving the rhythm or adding vocal texture, Sean helps The Way deliver a full, polished, and energetic live performance.

James "Jimmy Jam"
Bass
James “Jimmy Jam” brings the foundation, groove, and low-end power that help drive The Way’s sound. As the band’s bassist, he plays a critical role in connecting the rhythm, guitars, and vocals into one tight, cohesive live performance.
His approach is rooted in feel. Whether locking in with the drums, adding movement to a chorus, or giving a song the pulse it needs, James understands how to serve the music without overcomplicating it. In 80’s and 90’s alternative rock, the bass often carries the mood as much as the rhythm, and James brings that balance of restraint, energy, and musical instinct to every show.
